Company car or van advice / opinion

    Hi,
Is a company car considered a better option than a van. ( obviously apart from fact that car has back seats etc) from a money point of view? I'm just not sure should I just hold onto my own (old but reliable car) and go for van?
Would a company give the option of a commercial type SUV / 4*4 instead of a van - if same monetary value for them to buy?
    Thanks

The BIK on a van is only 5% in comparison to a car.

Are you getting paid to use your own car/van at the moment? Will you do much work miles in the new motor?

Thanks for taking time to post guys, apologies drunkmonkey, what I meant about keeping my own car is if I take the van option. Was offered a van, and mentioned to them that salary was a little low and dey came back and said they couldn't do anything with salary but offered car instead. So if I take company car - no need for my own car, if I take van, would keep my own car for personal use. My own car is old but reliable, general costs insurance, tax, maintenance 1200 approx a year, depending on type of car company would offer - a 15k car would incur 1600 bik, 20k car would incur over 2k bik. I assume they pay insurance, tax, maintenance, fuel for the vehicle when it would be a company car - whether its a car or van?
