    Hi,

The ould lad bought Yaris (Petrol 1.3) their but when you press the button it's not installed, does it come on a disc, or how do you get it?

Whats it actually called, the proper name?

I had a google, first result is this - https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/owners/multimedia.json - but I don't think his screen is touchscreen, well the radio can't be operated by the screen anyway - Edit it can, ya have to hold it down for a good while.

If its the new shape Yaris and has a touch and screen you will need whats known as Toyota Touch and Go, Its and additional piece of hardware which is attached to the radio. The parts alone are in the region of €850 inc VAT and it takes about an hour to fit.

I have a Prius from 2012 with the Toyota Touch & Go stuff and the satnav is not great - screen is naff by modern standards (can't see in sunlight, spongy inaccurate resistive touchscreen), maps are out of date and don't give live traffic, and the interface is slow and clunky.

You'd be better off replacing with some Android-based head unit, or just using an Android phone with a decent dash mount.

    Hi knifey,

Thats crazy expensive! Does the radio come out and it attaches at the back? And all maps are included? Could the part be got from a crashed car?

You often need to code the system in which can be an additional cost if you don't have the tools and software.

Honestly, you'd be a million times better off getting an Android based radio or just using your phone. Your phone can reroute bsaed on live traffic and is constantly updated. I have the most up to date BMW maps in mine and my phone is still better in every regard e.g. Faster route planning, better routes. For the money you'll spend installing this, which you won't get back when you sell, you could buy an iPhone and leave it in the car.
