Invalidity pension rent a room scheme

    I'm in receipt of invalidity pension. I was hoping to rent a room ( scheme ) .does this income affect the pension payment?

    Moved from Accommodation and Property as the question relates more to the payment that the rent a room scheme.

    No it wont affect your personal IP rate but may affect the rate you are awarded for your spouse or partner, if you are claiming for a spouse or partner.

    Thank you . I'm a divorced mammy of two .. the only payment I am in receipt of is invalidity pension . Should I notify social welfare that I intend to rent out a room? Thank you for your advice

    Yes you should write to them. It won't have any affect on your payment but they like to be informed of any change in your circumstances.

    Actually I've just realised that bringing someone in is going to affect your entitlement to both your living alone increase and your HBP. I'm afraid you will lose both.
