So currently have a male beagle/harrier over a year being fed royal canine by the parents which personally I don't rate and he ends up with a bit of runny poo in the morning.

I was thinking slaney pet foods 15kg dry food would be a good option any opinion advice.

He's 24 kg so how much should he actually be fed. slaney have a calculator, but I don't understand it 100%. He's a rescue dog so not a lot of information on him and he hated his ears being touched initially, but now allows it, but currently treating an ear infection.

    Thanks for any help.

Don't bother with calculators or reading guidelines. That is all they are - guidelines. Feed him enough so that his ribs are just covered. Increase or decrease according to his body condition.

Finding a food that suits him & your pocket are very much trial & error. Certainly there are better foods out there then Royal Canin for the same price.

Around 2% of ideal body weight a day as a starting point then adjust up/down depending on how he takes to it overall basically. So you'd look at around 480g a day (that's total)

I buy most of my dogs food from Slaney but the frozen meat not the dry stuff. He's great for customer service and would probably give you a sample of the dry food if you asked him. Cheese and bread wouldn't be on the top of my list of ingredients for a food I'd choose for my two but at the same time I'd be intrigued to see how a dog would do on it since it has dream ingredients for my two anyways lol! :p I think I read on FB that he had probs with stock levels for it though?

This lad has no problem with any food at all, all is welcome for him. Off topic though he has quite a funny habit, if you get deodorant or anything smelly even shake and vac and put it on the ground, he'll roll around in it so he can smell the same.
