    Hi
My sis has a significant birthday coming up and has a couple of trips planned to celebrate.....lucky her!!
I want to buy her a set of luggage - I was looking at Samsonite but it's working out at €600/700 for just 2 pieces (2 is prob enough).

Wondering if any of you seasoned travellers out there might have any suggestions for alternatives.

    Thanks

Arnotts have some Samsonite on special

We got these, they're really light so you can pack more in.

They're excellent bags, would have baulked at paying that price before but they're very strong and light.

Samsonite have an outlet store in Kildare Village, so you might find some pretty discounted "last season" type styles/lines there: https://www.kildarevillage.com/en/shopping/brands/samsonite/

They occasionally pop up in TK Maxx stores too.

Thanks for the suggestions, I just can't reach to the Samsonite unfortunately!! Have decided to go with this set - the poor relation, gets pretty decent reviews.

Have you considered if she will appreciate getting three bags which she will have to store somewhere? Well and good if she lives in a house with big wardrobes or lots of storage space..... or if the bags fit inside one another - Russian doll style.

Thankfully there are no problems with storage, as a mum of 3 small kids I think she will be very happy to get 3 bags that match!! She already has a couple of trips planned so I reckon they will get pretty good use. I will be happy to borrow them from time to time also:D

Tk max actually have a good range of "branded" luggage often in complete sets.

Saying that, just be careful and take some time to examine these as some if their "branded" luggage seem like poor quality, i.e. a brand cashing in on the popularity of their name and licensing the naming rights out but no quality control.

You'd probably get two Samsonite for that price (or close) at the outlet store in Kildare. My two main bags are Samsonite, and they've been worth every penny.

I'd also echo the concern over storing three bags. I honestly think that all you really need is a carry on size bag and a larger bag that does the 2 week holiday scenario. Oh, and spinner-style if at all possible.

Thanks but went with the American Tourister.
Like I said previously storage is not a problem, Samsonite is out of my price range - Kildare Village may be an option for some but for me it's a 450km round trip plus all the unnecessary stuff I would buy while there!! Three bags will be used on many trips - we're talking about a family of 5 for most jaunts.
Will update when they have been handed over!!

American Tourister is a brand of Samsonites so you won't go wrong. I've used the Bon Air suitcase and it is a great case for the price.

I have a Samsonite bag since 1995. Must have used it 100+ times. Still using it. The best I'd say.

    Update:
So the luggage has arrived and she is delighted with it. They look like really nice cases, light but pretty sturdy too. Storage will not be an issue - they fit neatly into each other. I'm looking forward to borrowing them!!

Thanks for all the help and advice here.
