Looking to buy a 2nd car for the missus and she doesnt want anything too big car wise.

Been looking at the Volvo V40 as an option, particularly the R-line version.

Anyone have any experience of what theyre like or any recommendation?

Would like a 2 liter diesel but will probably end up with the 1.6 diesel instead.

    Howiya,
I bought one just before christmas and love it. 2 litre petrol, R-Design.
Previous to it I had a 1.6D C30. The petrol is a joy to drive compared to it and the mpg is very good. 43-45mpg

Have one for 2 years now. I have se spec with blonde leather and few upgrades. The 1.6 D2 engine going well so far. Feels very premium inside and felt nicer than golf or a3 to me.

Can only recommend the V40, have mine 18 months now and not a bother with it. I went with the 2l has it has that bit more power when overtaking and such. Make sure it has cruise control and a few extras like style pack, sensors, camera.
