    Good Morning,

Having serious trouble sourcing slim fit tuxedo shirts with winged collars for a wedding in a couple of weeks. Tried online and in shops but no look getting one in slim fit with a winged collar and double cuff. I would have thought these would be easy to get as dickie bows seem to be back in fashion. Looked all over Galway and Limerick but struggling to get anything (doesn't help one of the lads is size 14.0 or 14.5" neck size too). Bought a regular fit one from Debenhams and the neck and sleeve length was perfect but it was so baggy it was like a parachute, the three of us are all slim so regular fit seems a no go!

Anyone know if rental shops would be willing to sell?

Seems the full tuxedo has gone out of fashion.

    The joys of it all!!!

In all honesty, wearing a wing collar shirt with black tie is pretty old fashioned (and technically incorrect as the wing collar shirt comes from white tie, not black tie, although lots of folks have arguments about that...), so I can understand why you're having problems. Also, you really shouldn't wear a wing collar shirt without a waistcoat, in which case whether a shirt is slim cut or not won't make much of a difference. Wing collar shirts with cummerbunds look dreadful, and you should always go for a waistband cover for black tie. This article from GQ explains the basics quite well.

I really would recommend simply going with a dress shirt with a standard or semi-spread collar. (Debenhams do a great range of dress shirts, they have a few options in their slim range here.) In will look far better, in particular if some of the lads will be wearing a pre-tied bowtie- it'll be VERY obvious in the wing collar shirt (as the band of the bowtie isn't covered by the collar). It doesn't take long to learn how to tie a bowtie though, so I'd recommend getting a proper one for everyone.

Worst comes to worst, you can buy the best fitting shirt (sleeve and collar) and then bring them to a tailor/ alterations place and get them to slim it down. It's an easy fix.

Thanks for the info, I'm just not a fan off the standard collars and bow tie's, I think it just looks a bit odd with the collars coming down behind them. I totally agree with the pre tied with wing collar and going to invest in some nice one's that you tie yourself. Be something to learn before the big day too.

Waist coat is a no-go as the wedding is in Egypt so it will be too warm but going with cummerbunds as the tux's are single button so want the cummerbund to hide the bottom white section of the shirt when wearing the jacket.

I think a good alternative would be the collars that are cut away at the front (as per http://www.debenhams.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10052_10001_080010440180_-1) but unfortunately this doesn't have stock in 14 or 14.5" at the moment and would have ordered these today. Just my luck.

I thought the shirts would be the easiest part to get, I got quoted €160 each in Louis Copeland's for them (in fairness they are probably really nice) but don't have them in stock for 2-3 weeks either.

Just would of thought that wing collared slim fit shirts would have be more available but saying that, this is the first time I've ever had to look for one.

That's fair enough, everyone has their own preferences. You could also try m&s, or try TMLewin. They often have deals like 3 shirts for the price of 2, that might be good?

TM Lewin look like a great bet, they seem to have good selection, different fits and 14.5" collar. Could be onto a winner, going to be in London on Friday so I'll try and pop into them and try a few on. Never heard of them before but hopefully they fit well and are good quality!

    Thanks a million!

^ I can vouch for TM Lewin having great quality shirts and they do very nice slim fits. Charles Twyhurst is their main rival, also very nice shirts
