RTE reporting that AAIU are at scene. No further specifics as to whether the aircraft was taking off, landing, or in-flight. It's a dreadful occurrence and I hope the two people involved will be ok.

If it done that to the Helicopter then they must be injured badly.

Fire brigade cut them out so that would make it look worse.

    Looks like an R44?

How come small planes and helicopters don't have parachutes . They drop far heavier vehicles into places via cargo plane. Tanks, Jeeps, Machinery.
For the sake of some material and a rope seems silly not to have one on planes and helicopters worth half a million plus .

There are some light fixed wing planes that come with parachutes.
I'm no expert but I'm guessing the majority of accidents happen at low level (landing & take off) so parachutes would be useless.

Helos operate at lower altitudes with a very significant downdraft. I doubt the odds for non prepared/experienced jumpers would be very good.

I think he meant a parachute for the Helicopter / plane not the individuals inside the aircraft.

Likely to be R44 G-DORM, now based in Carlingford but has been around the island of Ireland for many years.
