We already have terrorism to blame for having to buy expensive drinks to quench our thirst after passing security at airports as technology despite all efforts has failed to be able to detect which liquids are dangerous.

Now it seems that the threat of terrorism will be a motivating factor for reinstating border controls between ROI and Northern Ireland:

I thought this was going to be another "I had arranged to meet a girl from tinder but she cancelled because of a terrorist threat. Why must ETA always mess with my lovelife?" threads.

What makes you think it isn't?

Well in fairness if a static border controls are put up along the border ,I would/could see them been a target for attack from dissident Republicans. And I could see these groups getting more support up here anyway.

All ferry companies need to have a manifest of everyone on board the vessel. This list can be emailed to Scotland and anyone of interest could be detained. Exactly as it is done on any other transport route

Ferry companies currently only require a surname and initial and do not request proof of ID.

This is to comply with legislation brought in after the Herald Of Free Enterprise disaster 30 years ago when it was found that nobody knew exactly who was on board the ship leading to large numbers not being positively identified as dead rather than missing.

This nonsense is just the usual from the security services who are never satisfied with how much data they can have on everybody's activities. Terrorism is just a handy excuse for ever increasing restrictions to be put in place.
