    Hey,

Test drove both of these yesterday , petrol versions of XC Ateca and the Allure 3008 SUV. Both lovely cars. Spec wise the 3008 pips the Ateca with more technology packed in for the base price. However I much preferred the power and drive of the 1.4 petrol Ateca.

It's a tough decision , the wait time on the 3008 is a killer but the exterior/interior styling is lovely. The Ateca wait time is alot less, while the styling is not as nice as the 3008, I prefer the freedom around the driver in the Ateca, the cockpit design in the 3008 felt very enclosed and may be a bother if you had to reach around to (while stopped obviously) to tend to a child or something.... small issue i know.

Overall the PCP deal with Seat kills Peugeot dead, 2.9% vs 4.9% and Seat include a 3 year service plan for free...

likely going to pull the trigger on the Ateca this month.

Also interested in petrol versions of both.

Can I ask where you did the test drives?

I wonder what are the prices of the Ateca in the different trim levels? The basic trim price is quite competitive I believe but I've heard that as you go up the trim levels the Ateca becomes pretty pricey compared to the competition.

The 3008 definitely looks a better machine than the Ateca, inside and out, but perhaps the Ateca is better to drive? I don't know.

The infotainment system would be a big factor for me, did you use it much in each car?

I'm a very happy 3008 (Allure 1.6HDi, Auto, full leather in copper) owner - it was love at first sight :)
Drivability is not a huge factor for me - styling & infotainment are what I'm more interested in. Having said that it drives fine - not sure any SUV would be the right choice for someone who is really interested in handling/performance.

Residuals are a bit of a concern but Peugeot have fared very well in recent reliability surveys. Not to mention the 5 year warranty. It's interesting to see that Peugeot UK have increased their PCP rates on the new 3008 from 1.9% to 4.9% in the face of stronger than expected demand.

I was in two minds about getting a diesel but I will probably change it for the hybrid version in a couple of years time. From talking to a few dealers demand for diesels, particularly in rural Ireland, is likely to remain high for quite some time.

Also had a look at the 3008 and was comparing to the Kia Sportage. Much preferred the 3008 but Sportage may also be worth a look. Have only seen the Ateca and in my opinion it's a grand looking car but just not as exciting, the interior and finish of the 3008 really is something to admire.

Yet to test drive the 3008 and want automatic and petrol, just not sure 1.4 is enough.

It's actually 1.2 or 1.6  I haven't driven either but the 1.2 is 130hp and turbocharged. All the reviews have been very positive but not sure how it would preform in a fully laden car.

Oh. I drive a 10 year old car that is a 1.4 Astra sxi, it struggles, it's manual.. Maybe the turbo charge really helps it. Not much of a car person so i think i really need to drive them to see.

Shame about the high pcp rate on the 3008. Am also considering both, have yet to test drive either though. Lots of toys included in the GT Line spec on the 3008, to get similar spec on the Ateca it's Xcellence trim plus plenty optional extras.
I presume the Seat will hold it's value better, but that may get negated by fact a grand or two of the initial value would be optional extras..

Can't find what the pcp rate is for the 3008 (4.9%?)and the Ateca (1.9%?)

The question is do you get more value for money with the 3008 top trim compared to the Ateca top trim.

    Hi,

I've taken both for test drives. 3008 fab inside, lots of technology, even the dashbord is a computer screen! Ateca felt niftier to drive.

I drive from Donegal to Dublin most weeks, planned to buy diesel Ateca, but concerned re. recent articles re. emissions in Ireland/ future penalties for diesel cars.

Would it best to go for petrol or take a chance on the diesel?

    Regards

You'll have to make your own mind up on that one, diesel more economical but not good for human health. Petrol less harmful to people's respiratory systems but obviously costs more now. Diesel may not always be cheaper at the pumps than petrol.

Certainly in major urban areas there is little or no justification for Diesel engines.

The number of diesel cars I see go around with thick black smoke coming from the exhaust is really concerning - it's not acceptable in an urban area in my view.

We test drove both and although Peugeot more stylish inside and out we went with xcellence Ateca diesel. Reason was getting better deal, we did not go pcp way, and we had 2 cars to trade in.

Also previously I had a VW golf so feel of Ateca similar.

It's all about personal taste and what you can afford.
