The misses is in the hunt for a new 7 seater, and I thought I'd have a look and see what's there ,I saw a 2014 Mazda 5 in a local garage. Went in got the keys and started it up. I was really shocked at how shaky the 1.6 dispel was. Felt like a really old tractor. Needless to say I throw the keys back and legged it.

I drive a Peugeot 1.4hdi for3 years and then a few 1.9tdi caddy for years, never have I seen a diesel car shake like that. Was it just a boogeyman car or are all Mazdas diesels that bad?

You started the car. Was that all or did you actually drive it? It could just be that the car was particularly cold from sitting on a forecourt for a long period. That engine is actually manufactured by Ford and used in the Focus model which is a quiet car.

It's actually manufactured by peugeot and used in a wide variety of vehicles from various manufacturers.

Could just have been sitting around a while and needed a damn good drive to clear the cobwebs.

Could well be, but cars for sale where they're not properly presented for sale is a bugbear of mine.
