Window wiper motor

I have a 01 vw polo saloon. The wipers are not working. It's a car I bought few days ago just to get me by for a while. Wipers didn't work since buying it. I looked at all fuses and they all seem fine so I was told it must be wiper motor.

Is it easy to replace wiper motor?
How much would I get a second hand one for?

    Cheers.

Is it the motor or has the linkage popped off?

I think it's the motor because when I turn them on you can hear anything from the motor. Everything else seems to be connected properly.

I have a problem with the wipers in a Toyota MR Spyder that has being parked up for some time. When I turn on the ignition they budge very very slightly and that's it. Guessing its corrosion somewhere in the linkages. I wonder if I manage to remove the linkages and remove any corrosion and douse all moving parts with WD40 should I expect that would rectify the problem or should I expect I'll need to be getting new motor and linkages?

OP also make sure there is a good connection of the wire going into the motor. Also eliminate the relay, make sure it clicks when you turn on the wipers which if it does all is good with it. If relay for wipers is in the engine bay as I suspect it may well be get someone else to listen for click when you turn on wipers.
