That third party seller seems dodgy:

Sold by Birmingham Reptiles and Pets

What is a Pet store doing selling electronics! Sounds like one of those scams where a legit store on amazon gets hacked.

I think that's the cause of Amazon dropping their price on the item though!!!

The 65 one is gone - they were showing 11 left about an hour ago so they may just have sold out.

But Amazon went straight back up to 99 too!

I hope they honour the 82 I got them at!

Picked one up to compliment the 2 normal wired ones. Amazon also have £5 off the echo dot as well. Picked up another at the same time.

FYI any landlords wishing to buy this, should buy the wired one. Disposable battery smoke alarms are not allowed under standards for rental properties

I received mine yesterday evening, barely 48 hours after I placed the order - excellent service from Amazon/Parcel Motel as usual.

I was actually charged delivery, initially £8+ and then £3.96 when I changed to Parcel Motel, which works out slightly cheaper overall but with a much quicker delivery.

Most have been a third party seller, rather then Amazon. Amazon delivery is free to Ireland on orders over €25.

According to the email it was "Sold by Amazon EU S.a.r.L.", should I query this or is free delivery only applicable if dispatched from the UK?

You should ask, but it might be too late.

I suspect you didn't click the "free delivery" option on the delivery option page during check out. They default to standard delivery, which is supposedly faster (I've never actually seen a difference), but costs, you have to specifically select "Free Supersaver delivery" during check out to get free delivery.

    Maybe so, cheers.

Price has increased now to ?89.00 - still showing as a ?10 saving.

It turns me out faster when they are busy.

Shipping will be with the same method, but free super saver items have lowest priority when parcels are packaged.

Reckon it'll be lower on Black Friday on Amazon if you can wait that long.

What is the correct thing to do when you get an alert on your phone from one of these when your a few hundred miles away?

Call a friend/relative/neighbour who can check for you? I think in Nest's ideal world you'll have your house covered in Nest cams as well to see if there's a fire and call the fire brigade.
