Confused About HAP

Just got a letter from DSP telling me I need to apply for HAP (from rent supplement)

It doesn't really say much else. From looking it up it appears I need to go to my local authority office (I'm already on the housing list) and ask for a form (can it be downloaded - i live 40 minutes away from the country council offices?)

What do I need to tell/ask my landlord about, regarding it? I'll make an appointment to go see the letting agents I deal with but I want to be ready to tell them what it means?

Also I see the rental limits are different for my county than rent supplement was, my landlord has always been good about keeping them at the limit for me but I know he'll want to raise it to the new limit if he can. But I see what you pay is based on income so that shouldn't make too much difference? (I'm on disability allowance btw)

Also am I right in saying once you get HAP you're removed from the housing list?

    Thanks.

Coincidentally, I got a text yesterday morning that the rent is going up. What he wants is above the limit, this had me panicked for a bit, does anyone know if I can top the payment up to make up what he wants? There seems to be more leeway with HAP from reading about it.

The limit is €380 and he wants €450.

You won't be removed once you write a letter requesting that you be left on the list and return it with the completed form
