Capital assessment and disability allowance

I receive disability allowance at present. It is possible that I may receive a cash inheritance in the future from a house sale that will give me a large lump sum, which will put me well over the 50K allowed assets for receiving disability allowance. That still leaves me with a few questions...

I am under 66 years of age so would I lose my Free Travel Pass as well?

Would I still be able to stay on the HAP scheme for my rented house?

If I immediately on receiving this money, bought a house which I moved into, that then left me with less than 50,000 Euro in the bank, would I continue to be able to receive DA?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank You.

The first 50,000 is ignored for DA then it's assessed as follows-

    Next €10,000 €1 per €1,000
    Next €10,000 €2 per €1,000
    Balance €4 per €1,000

You will need to contact the HAP office if your local council and see their rules but it's likely it will be stopped.

Thank You notjustsweet, but the amount I will likely receive after inheritance tax will mean that using those calculations, all of my payment will be stopped.

HAP payment is based on income not on savings, so why would it be stopped?

The question is: Will I lose my Free Travel Pass as well because I receive no payment? and...

if I buy a house with most of the money and move into it, will I that way continue to receive payment?

HAP is based on a need for social housing which if you have thousands in cash and can buy a house you aren't eligible for.

I don't know about free travel but I'd presume you wouldn't be entitled to it with thousands of Euro in the bank.

It takes time to buy a house, I'm sure you can reapply once your savings are below the threshold.
