I am looskng to put up one of those early style 'red/green' hay sheds. It would blend in better for where the land is. Would I be better to try and buy one second hand or see if I can get one build to look like the old ones ?

These types of round roofed sheds still being erected by any shed firm. Trusses usually made from angle iron now rather than timber. Added on a few bays to an existing shed I had last year. If its for cattle bear in mind that ventilation would not be as good as an A roof as you won't have the outlet along the apex

Edit: just seen wildsurfer got in before me.

Any recommendations for a shed firm in Munster?

How come the round hay shed is far less popular nowadays?

I can't help you with price but having put up a few of those second hand, i can confirm it was a pain in the hole! Every time!

Cos it's hard to run around on the roof of em.
    Plus the hassle of erection.

I had one and rep!aced the roof, now It's an A roof. If anything happens to a sheet on a A roof more than likely you can fix yourself or it is easy to get a lad to repair. I only once saw a lad on an A roof and i never want to see it again.

Drilling and bolting the sheets is the pain in the arse element of round roof sheds. Dangerous too.

any good trademan will be able to redo a round roof for you, got a local carpenter to redo a hayshed for me 2 years back, threw out the old angle iron trusses and all old sheeting which were gone rotten and they made up new timber ones, its easy get the sheeting from any amount of suppliers, they are nice in fairness when they are done up
