Is the Street Triple 765 RS one of the best all round naked middleweights ever?

Well even the older Speed Triples were sublime, but in fairness Triumph have not had much competition and nearly full market share for quite some time so you would expect them to make a very good triple. However, the Yamaha triples are very very good with some media outlets saying the actual engines are superior to that of the Triumphs.

Lad off here who goes out with me has 2 Triumphs a 2014 Tiger Sport and a new recent purchase a 2010 Triumph Speed Triple SE (Special Edition) an absolute stunner pure bike PORN!

    It's almost the same price as an MT-10 (€14,750) or S1000R (€13750).

edit: I'm not saying they're comparable, the Triumph is 40kg lighter for a start, but €13,300 is a lot of money.

Really dont understand why manufacturers do this, make and bike for a specific genre and then mod it to fit into a different one its stupid.

And 9/10 they add a stupid bikini screen and heated grips and VOILA= TOURER!

A naked bike can never be a tourer ffs, KTM do the same thing with the 1290.

If you want a tourer buy and tourer if you want a naked bike buy a naked bike, and then people who buy a naked and kit it out with touring stuff......dont get me started.

1000cc = more like a naked heavyweight than a middleweight.

Remember The Triumph Street Triple is 765cc, so the closest alternative might be the 850cc MT09 (instead of the MT10). Should be some great comparrison tests between the two 'triples' coming up in the near future .....

I think reviews can be a bit misleading. I watch loads of them on Youtube, and they invariably involve jetting people off to Spain and giving them the highest spec base variant, often with accessory exhaust, to hoon around empty roads on.

    Like in this 44teeth review:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QOLcCywP-g&t=871s

"Because you think about it, what is it, £1900 more, so over like 3 years PCP deal it's going to cost you a extra tenner a month to have [the RS]. No brainer."

What a load off bull. That's £1900 is about 20% extra! Motorbike pricing is fiercely competitive, every manufacturer is making hundreds of really tough decisions to shave a few quid here and there off the costs, and somehow 20% extra is a no brainer?

Anyway, the sort of questions that it's more difficult to get from reviews...

    1. Who is my dealer going to be? How local are they and what is their reputation? This would be a particular concern with a British-built product.

    2. Does it sound good with the stock exhaust, or am I going to have to spend 1k+ on an Akra exhaust to stop it sounding like a food mixer?

    3. What is the brake feel like? How intrusive is the ABS? I personally loathe crappy brake feel and intrusive ABS, I'd rather the thing that's going to keep my alive in a freak accident doesn't ruin every other wet weather ride.

    4. Does the TC system allow me to lift the front wheel without turning it all off every time I get on the bike? If I get pulled for accidentally lifting the front wheel I'm going to have problems explaining it is if the only way that can have happened if I turned if off a few minutes beforehand.

    5. If I take it on track can I turn off all the electronics? Not relevant on many nakeds, but this thing is marketed as being fun on track.

Anyway, tldr version is that reviews are bull**** so you should take one for a test ride since apparently no one on here has ridden one.

So many glowing reviews all over the internet, some really great Youtube clips of its exploits on the track (& as an every day commuter)! Beautifully balanced, poised, sweet, delightful, howling, fast, infectous, massive grunt, spectacular, steady, confidence inspiring & stonking power are just some of the plaudits heaped on the New 765 RS.
If you want to find out what's wrong with this year's bike, read the magazine reviews of next year's model when it comes out and spot the difference.

Love the street triple but its pretty ugly to look at. But its not my type of bike I suppose. I have a 2017 Bonneville T120 amd might get a Thruxton R to join it later on. I am more into the retro look.
