Ford focus ecu/cluster issue

Hi, anyone come across this before and is it fixable without paying Ford 1.5K, any help much appreciated.

I have a 2008 Ford Focus 1.8 diesel van. Driving it to work the other morning and van stopped dead on road and "engine malfunction" light flashed on dash. It wouldn't restart, wouldn't even turn over. Got it towed
Mechanic plugged in diagnosis tool and fault code for immobiliser, cluster code invalid was present, got the key checked and that was alright . So brought the cluster(clocks) to a electronics guy who rebuilds them for Ford here in Waterford. Put back in the so called repaired clocks, van still the same, no start and same fault still up. Mechanic then said it was most likely the ecu. Took out ecu and electronics guy checked ecu and yes the programme was gone of the chip and it wouldn't take a reload of the programme.
Thought we were sorted, not. Got another ecu (same part number as original) and loaded the programme to it. Fitted it in van and new fault code appeared for no communication with instrument cluster, electronics guy said this was normal and programmed the key to the new ecu. Van started and ran perfectly for 5 mins.
Switched it off , two minutes, went to restart and nothing. Engine malfunction message back on dash and code for no communication with instrument cluster back also. Electronics guy checked ecu and programme had been wiped off it. It will do this over and over again, wipes the programme for the ecu when key is taken out of ignition for two mins.
Anyone any idea as to why ecu would be losing the programme, or recommend someone who is a specialist with these things.

Reading bits on the net it seems to be a common issue with Ford
    ThanksðŸ‘
