I posted previously that I reckon the sport back version especially looks like an upmarket mondeo.
Very expensive too, similar money to 5 series, e class and inferior equipment levels to them.
Probably will sell like hot cakes.

I find it hard to have any enthusiasm for it to be honest.

Looks too much like a two-door A4 and I think the nose is a bit too bulbous-looking where the bonnet meets the grill. I'd pass.

The sportback looks like a Mondeo I think. Dave Humphreys who is a motoring journalist posted this earlier online.

It does indeed resemble a Mondeo, especially in that photo and even though I'm an Audi fan, in this case I think I'd prefer the Mondeo to either variant of the new A5.

Very disappointing design imo. The aggressive nose of the original A5 has been replaced with this less distinctive front end. Looks less like a 4 door coupe and more like a 5 door hatchback now. And yes the SP looks very like a Ford Mondeo:

Audi fan myself but disappointed by the aesthetics of the new range, not sure about this Marc Lichte fella and his design principles...

What the bejesus is this like!

    Great looking in the flesh!

It looks the same as every other Audi ever, as per usual. You don't actually think that VW, Audi, BMW etc. go in for revolutionary designs. It is always, always evolutionary redesign. Most Audis look ostensibly the same as they have done for the past twenty years and it is a case that other marques have moved to look like them.

Pic doesn't quite convey that :)

    Can't agree.
Add a bit more chrome and it's a mondeo vignale.

What's the retail on that R..O.R.?
    Circa 50k I'm guessing?

    Shade over €53k ex. delivery.

It's a 190 S-Tronic SE FWD with just metallic (Tango Red).

Pic doesn't do it justice, is much better in real life. If I get a chance, might see if I can get a pic next to the Ruby Red Mondeo we've got in the garage as well.

That would be great to compare the two.
I loved the last A5 but this is not doing it at all for me. Also the price!
Looking at the Audi website, I think it comes with fake plastic leather too on the se and doesn't have the full digital climate control either.
I think you can do better for 53k.
The 3.0tdi Quattro on the A4 is about that.

The Mondeo is actually a much better and nicer looking car...especially in black or white.

It is a 2 door A4, always was, and the bulbous nose on modern cars is for pedestrian protection in a crash.

To be fair, the new A5 coupe does look well in the flesh. Still as someone who bought an original A5 coupe when they first appeared, I won't be buying one of these even though I'm in the market for a car. Local dealer has a coupe with a few bits of spec added - nothing major and it's 57 or 58k. Too much money.

That's the other issue I have with this car.
It's just too dear for what it is and what you get in it.

Audis in general are very overvalued in this country.
