    Hi

I've about €25,000 to €30,000 to spend on a new car.
My mileage is about 6,000 per year (10,000 km). So I want a petrol engine.
I'd like a decent sized boot for luggage.
Driving is a mix of city, motorway and country roads. I would like cruise control for the motorway
And as I get older, I may find gear changes in traffic more tiring, so I would like to future proof the car by choosing automatic (I intend to keep it for at least 10 years).

Any recommendations to meet the above criteria much appreciated

Have you considered electric? Much lower maintenance and running costs. Much smoother and better torque than a diesel. Not automatic... because you don't need more than one gear at all. In your price range you could get a Hyundai Ioniq (€27,485) or a mid to high spec Nissan Leaf. The Ioniq is best but demand is outstripping supply so for some colours/options the wait for delivery is into the 172 reg (for the same reason discounts on the list price are rare). Definitely worth getting an extended test drive if you've never driven a modern electric before.
