    Hello,

I'm looking to buy a car and ran the hpi check

the report came back saying that it was finance outstanding.

The car is a 2016 astra from a vauxhall dealer.

How do I know if the finance has been paid off?

I don't know on how to proceed on this one so any help is welcome

    thanks

Talk to the dealer about it. It's very common for car to still show up as having finance owing on it even though it has been cleared. Normally it can take some time for the finance company to put through the paperwork. Call the dealer and explain your concerns and that you will not proceed with the purchase until the finance is cleared and you would like confirmation in the form of a statement from the finance company that it's cleared and a new HPI check stating likewise.

Thanks for the advice, that sounds like the right thing to do.

Some dealers have internal finance arrangements where the company finances the vehicle while it's in stock, this is then cleared when the car is sold.

As bazz said talk to dealer, ask them to supply a HPI as I did. Car I bought still had finance listed on HPI but dealer said account wasn't updated yet and loan was cleared.
