When renewing your learner permit do they take your old one? I need the one I have now as I have no other form of ID.

No they just take a photocopy of it. It can still be used as an ID, though I was told you won't be able to sit your test with it and must wait for your new one to come out.

If you renew it before the old one is expired, they will give it back to you. If it's expired, they will take it off of you.
