I'm currently getting quotes for a concrete driveway. Most contractors are proposing to put down 4 inch of concrete which seems reasonable based on my googling. however many are suggesting only laying 3 inch of subbase material such as 804 or similar. is this enough?

I would suggest 150mm of filling. laid in 2 layers of 75mm with each layer well compacted with walk behind vibrating roller. The secret is in the foundation of the drive. Go for 150mm of concrete as well. You only want to do this job once

Any idea what this should cost, i.e. Rough cost per m sq?
