    Hi

I'm replacing my gas boiler but dont have a clue about brands, etc.

I'm looking at an Ideal 18kw boiler for about 1650. I've a 3 bed house. Any thoughts?

Also i can avail of the SEAI grant so was thinking of getting controls on the immersion. But is there a point? Is it more economical to use the electricty to heat the water than the has?

    Any imput welcome.

You won't get a grant for boiler only change.
You have to get heating controls installed too. This includes an immersion timer. But the bulk of the controls is all about zoning your system. You'd be looking at around 3-4K to get it done properly, depending on your current systems layout.
