Is this socket suitable for fibre

Have had sky installed for a few weeks, ordered fibre, they confirmed it's available, guy from KN came and tested everything, predicted I would get 70mb approx.
Then I notice that I'm only getting 11mb, they claimed then that the order was always for up to 15mb and not fibre.
So they've booked in a fibre install (third day off I need to take), they say I need to be at home as they'll need to upgrade the faceplate probably.
Now the guy that came out said it was ok for fibre, so do I really need to be there?

    Here it is

Any way of knowing from the pic?

    NTU is ok.

With anyone else you'd need to be there, unless sky have changed their methods you don't need to be there as they let KNN do the cab and their own guys do the inhouse.

I don't know if it's someone from KN or Sky coming this time.

I would've thought it would just be done in the cabinet as the line between the cabinet and my socket has already been looked at by KN and successfully onnected to ADSL by Openeir (?)

The whole process of getting Sky in is ridiculously complicated.

Yeah, they made it needlessly complicated to save a few euro.

KNN should just go back to the cab and change your cable over there (ADSL off, VDSL On).

To be fair they've passed that saving on (49 a month for a year including Sky q) but compared to getting upc in, it's been a nightmare. I must've been on the phone (at my own expense) to them 6 hours at this stage between this and a few other major issues.

    Thanks for the info.

I thought calls to sky were free as you are a sky call/bb customer.

When I was ordering Sky Fibre, I told them there was a fibre-ready socket in the house already, but the guy on the phone told me that they'd send an engineer out to install a Sky-branded socket. So the socket might be perfectly fine, but they'll still insist on having one with the Sky logo on it

Yer man that came out said it was fine, but that wouldn't surprise me,

Yep, and free from Vodafone mobile too, well the 0818719819 I used from my Vodafone SIM only phone was free.

What a circus. The engineers that called today have no access to the cabinet and just called to look at the socket (as in glance) and verify that I had a sky modem.

Nice guys but what a setup.

Yep, And knn connect at the cabinet, I think you've been told that already. Sky penny pinching.

Seems a bit wasteful to have so many different people involved.

    Post the sky viewing card
Send out tv installer to install sky box
Send out kn to check connection to socket
    Courier out a modem
    Send openeir to connect adsl
Send sky to look at my socket again and make sure I had the modem they sent me a month ago
Get someone else to upgrade to fibre
Pay someone's wages for the approx 6 hours I've been on the phone to them in the last month.

Very convoluted, eir and Vodafone are much more straightforward.

Normal vdsl install is not like that though (for a triple play order.

    Its:

    Post viewing card
Sky engineer installs tv, brings hub and checks ntu.
    KNN connect at cabinet.

Unless its changed since I stopped working for them (admittedly quite a while ago).

You're right Avada, what appears to be the case is that skys operations software cant know that when it applies an upgrade to a line whether and old or new NTU is present.

For newline then VDSL upgrade its a mess, but that would be a minority of sales.

VDSL upgrade promised within 48 hours of Saturday morning.

    Nothing yet.

Punctuality is not a word in KNNs dictionary ;)

Yep, sales guys have no idea without asking the customer
