    Hi All
Just like to start a thread on ttc after miscarriage . I had a miscarriage in feb and im just wondering how long it took for anyone who has suffered a miscarriage for their period to return ? did hcg stay in your system for long ? I miscarried @ 11 weeks but baby hadn't developed after 6 ..so Im wondering would my hcg levels had dropped at the 6 weeks point or would it only have been after the miscarriage?

Sorry for your loss babybaby. It's an awful experience, I had pretty much the same thing happen to me a few years back. Got to 10 weeks and miscarried, baby had stopped developing around the 6 week mark.

I returned to the hospital a week after I began bleeding and my scan was clear and pregnancy tests were coming back negative at that stage.

My period came on it's usual date the following month iirc.

Best of luck, I hope you get the result you want soon x

I miscarried my first pregnancy at the end of September. The doctor said the HCG should have been back to near 0 after I stopped bleeding. My period took 6/ 7 weeks to come back but I had what looked like random LH surges during that time. My head was wrecked but obviously your body has to reregulate. I took a pregnancy test yesterday (and today to be sure!) and it's positive. My period was due today. It is so very hard to get excited. I am terrified!

oh xzanti you were in the due September threat I was in ..hope all is going well ! congrats loveinapril . wishing you a healthy pregnancy. we decided to start trying again straight away but I now im wondering what is going on with my body... maybe I should have waited for my period before ttc so I know that my body is back to normal. ive read you are more fertile after a miscarriage so fingers crossed !

My intention was to get pregnant straight away too, but my body had other ideas. You were flooded with pregnancy hormones, and the trauma of a miscarriage so your body will get pregnant when it is ready. The docs advise waiting a month too.

A friend of mine became pregnant straight away after MC, before her period returned. It definitely happens.

Just be good to yourself and do what feels right for you.

    Sorry for you loss.

My wife could have written the exact same post tbh, lost around 10 weeks but baba had stopped developing around 6 weeks.

Happened to us in late April / early may last year.

Her period returned in June, she got pregnant in July and all going well our little one will be arriving in less than 6 weeks.

Best of luck to you, mind yourself.

    Hi babybaby,

So sorry for your loss, I hope that you're doing ok!

I had a miscarriage naturally last July, about 3 weeks later I'm pretty sure I was ovulating again and period came 2 weeks after that. I got pregnant again that cycle. At the time I was raging because when I was ovulating that first time I was in a different country to my husband for the week but looking back I'm glad I was forced to wait one cycle, I think it would have been very difficult emotionally if I had gotten pregnant again within 3 weeks. That's just my experience though, everyone is different!

I'm now 27 weeks with this pregnancy and although the first few months were difficult I'm finally starting to relax and enjoy it and let myself believe there is actually a baby on the way!

Wishing you the best of luck and when you do get pregnant again try to relax and enjoy it as best you can! (Easier said than done I know!!!)

So sorry for your loss, it's such a hard time. I miscarried in January, period came back 28days after I first started to bleed. We started to try straight away. pregnancy test was positive this morning:) Apparently you are more fertile after a miscarriage. Nurse recommended I keep taking iron, folic/folate, zinc as the miscarriage will reduce these.

I had a miscarriage at 8/9 weeks mid July 2016, first baby. I have a 24 day cycle and my period returned 24 days after i passed what I've always assume was the baby. I was quite angry at the time that my body could work so well but yet hadn't sustained the pregnancy.

We started trying to conceive straight away. The two periods after the miscarriage were very heavy and quite painful so I didn't feel like my body was ready for a baby. I was also very emotional during both so my hormones were in no way settled. We conceived again at the end of August and I'm now 29 weeks along.

I found the start of this pregnancy very difficult as the fragility of the the process can't be unlearned once you've experienced the devastation. I was a lot slower to bond and I'm still over anxious at times. I guess you just have to trust your body.

The doctor I met in the Rotunda A&E and afterwards to confirm the miscarriage had completed told us there was no problem in TTC immediately, your body won't allow implantation until your uterus has recovered and there's actually a slightly lower risk of miscarriage in a pregnancy that occurs in the months after a miscarriage. It seems age was right!

Best of luck with it and be gentle with yourself

I had a miscarriage on 26th July last year and my period came back in September - I have a 40-45 day cycle and didn't know I was pregnant until it was too late. GP estimated I was probably between 8 and 10 weeks. I know you're supposed to wait a month to try but we started again a week after, I thought that with all the pregnancy hormones still in my system, I would get pregnant quickly. To be honest, I never ever thought I'd get pregnant to start with, I have had PCOS since I was 16 (am 44 now) and never managed to get pregnant before. At my age, we had accepted that it wouldn't happen for us and we were ok with that.

However, I am now 7 weeks along and this time I knew from about 3 weeks. Your body will get pregnant when it's ready, all you can do is get it prepared - I started taking folic acid and Pregnacare Conception from September until January, kept up the folic acid but switched to normal multivitamins and took an Evening Primrose Oil/Starflower Oil supplement. I don't know if any of that worked but I'm pregnant now. I'm heading for my danger period now so I'm doing everything I can to minimise risks - I even cancelled going to a gig last night because I was terrified of anything happening!!

I had a miscarriage in February, was early miscarriage 5 weeks and 4 days. I was so devostated you always think these things won't happen you. But I ended up getting pregnant straight away before I even got a period and got a bfp about 4 and half weeks after miscarriage.

Hi everyone, I just thought I'd jump in here as I'm keen to get people's opinions and experiences too. I am in the same position, had a missed miscarriage at the end of March, thought I was almost 12 weeks but like other's it looked like the growth stopped around 6 weeks.
I'm just annoyed/frustrated that my body didn't recognise it sooner because at the moment the spotting has just stopped, so I'm just waiting for a cycle now. I'd like to start TTC again as soon as possible too.

Thanks Babybaby 2017. Yes it was my first and yes it is tough going. I'm fine but just have an overwhelming feeling of disappointment. I actually take great comfort from hearing good news such as yours. The doctor/nurses all told us to wait for one full cycle but I'm ready to start again. I might just wait until my first period comes back and try again then. Congratulations on your great news though

Congrats babybaby, when are you due?

I commented last month, was pregnant after one cycle post mc in January. Unfortunately lost that baby too at 6 weeks. Pregnant again without period appearing, 5weeks now.

Are you on anything to support this pregnancy?

I'm trying baby aspirin & acupuncture and seeing a specialist Wednesday.

Fingers crossed for sticky beans x

Due in November. No the doctors had said they saw no reason to suspect it would happen again so just need to see how it goes . Can they pin point a reason for your miscarriages?

They wouldn't test until after 3 in my maternity hospital so I booked privately with a specialist but conceived in the meantime so just trying to prevent a 3rd as opposed to finding a reason for now.

You must be getting close to the 12 week mark so, that's great!

    Hi Ladies,

First time slightly petrified poster here!
Had a missed M/C at the end of Feb followed by a D&C
I didn't bleed for about a week after m/c then v light for a week.
Had what i believe was a period in early April lasted a full week, heavier than what i would usually have
Positive test at 1-2 weeks this weekend on a digital test.
Am i pregnant or leftover HCG from previous pregnancy??
3/4 first response tests also showing positive results... faint lines but they are there.................

You sound like you are definitely pregnant! From what I know about clear blue digital is it'll read 2-3 when your period is due so you are probably 3 weeks pregnant or there abouts! Congratulations & fingers crossed x

I had a silent miscarriage as well - found out on 10th April that baby stopped growing between week 6 and 7, I should have been 9 weeks at that stage. I had a D&C on 21st April and my consultant sent the remaining fetal tissue for testing - she just manipulated the truth a bit and told them it was my 3rd miscarriage instead of 2nd so that they would test it. My problem is PCOS so she wanted to see if this miscarriage was caused by chromosomes and if not, it would be the PCOS. She will start me on Metformin if it is PCOS-related and we'll see from there.

Thanks for the replies Shortstuff & Babybaby2017,

Funny feeling boobs, slight nausea & tiredness have returned this morning, have made app with my doc for next week.
Am trying hard not to get excited this time around as am terrified I'll be in same situation in a few weeks again, it was such a kick in the gut and knocked the wind out of me for weeks, had heard you can be super fertile after D&C but wasn't expecting it so soon.
Sorry it happened to you too Meathcat!! I had never heard of it before mine

Oh meathcat I'm so sorry to hear that:( Hopefully you can get some answers. It seems the obvious thing to do to test for chromosomes after a D&C, disgraceful that they don't always. I'm sure the last 3weeks have just been horrific for you and it'll take time to heal. If you ever need to talk I'm here...

I'm seeing a private consultant tomorrow, he specializes in miscarriage. Booked it after the 2nd miscarriage so hoping he'll be able to help me hold onto this bean. Doing acupuncture aswell.
