    Hi all,

A work collegue had an issue with his 2011 Hyundai i40 D.

Engine cut out on the motorway, called AA, guy checked out the car and said it was contaminated diesel, also said that he has had a half a dozen cases over the weekend just gone.

Anyways, brought it to the Hyundai garage Limerick to get it sorted, they also confirmed that they have had numerious cases of this in the last week, from Clare, Tipperary and Limerick.

I'm not sure if anything can be done but just be on the lookout.

Here is a picture of the diesel removed and the filter from the car.

Don't name the brand but was it some mickey mouse fuel place he filled from or a known branded operation? Was the price too good to be true or normal?

Nope, not a mikey mouse place, a branded garage and standard price. The person in the Hyundai garage said they havent been able to nail the supply down to one place as they have had multiple cases (including someone working at the garage itself) from multiple counties.

It's been out of the news a while, wonder is it washed diesel or contaminated with water? Revenue would be interested if it was washed.

Proving where the dirty fuel came from would be an issue I'm sure. First sign of trouble and the tank would be emptied and cleaned.

A griend had the same issue with a citreon berlingo van last week. The maindealer had a load of vans in for the same issue.
They reckoned it wasnt bad diesel but its new additives being added to diesel.
Their only solution was to halve the interval for the diesel filter
