Dishwasher beginning to leak.

    Hi.

Our ten years old dishwasher has developed a leak. It seems to be coming from underneath, at the front door panels, so I'm assuming it's the gasket/seals.

I have checked these over, and they seem ok (but I'm not an appliance repair engineer) but after a bit of research, am swaying towards them being the cause (leaks from the pump etc would come from a different area apparently).

I have sold the house, but as a good will gesture, I have agreed to leave all my kitchen appliances behind for the new owner (I won't be needing them) however, I wouldn't leave him a leaking dishwasher.

Can I just rock up to zanussi on the Nangor road and buy the parts, or is it mail order only does anyone know?

    Cheers

I'd ring beforehand to see, some may be trade only.

Mastercare may have the parts too if you know what your looking for http://www.mastercare.ie/

You sound like a very decent vendor indeed.

You are talking about Elite Spares? I am sure they would be glad to see you.

Zanussi is just a brand. Loads of places sell these spares.

You may not know much about buying spares. The problem with spares, as you will find out is that compared to the price of a dishwasher (maybe 330 euros) each spare part is pretty expensive (maybe 10 or 20 euros). It may not be worth repairing an old model. The problem is not the cost of the first repair; it's that the fact it needed a repair (especially replacement of a door seal) is indicative that the machine is pretty well worn (not abused just worn) and that other parts may fail soon.

If it is a goodwill gesture, personally I would rather have a box of biscuits and a litre of milk and a note saying the dishwasher works but there is a leak on the door seal.

    Guys thanks for the replies

Ordered parts I need direct from zanussi, should be here tomorrow, cost €34, including delivery and vat.

Local repair guy wanted nearly 3 x that to supply and fit.
