Dating tips

So, I'm dating a lad. It's early days. We have 4 under our belt and talk of a number 5. I'm unbelievably rusty at things. Like he tried to hold my hand and I pulled away but eventually warmed to it. I've been single for some years so I suppose I'm just so used to being single. I suppose it was a little awkward like what am I supposed to do here?

So with it being early days, there is some awkwardness. Anybody have any funny dating stories and the awkwardness about something new like this? Or any dating tips.

Ask him does he even mind rimming in public. Backbone of any relationship.

Actually, the username is a song title. I liked walking hand in hand in the end and could get used to it.

Yeah, I have one. Don't look in after hours for dating advice.

Tell him you're a bit rusty but you're really enjoying his company and liking what ye have going on.

If you're a bit slow on physical expressions of like then be encouraging with smaller stuff, like if he goes to hold your hand give him a smile or say that's really nice or whatever feels right.

Of course, maybe he thinks you're aloof and providing a challenge and he likes that! If he's still in there and trying and you are giving some signs of life back then maybe he's just happy to be in your company and you've nothing to worry about. Not every man wants to take the fast route to getting to know someone.

What sort of dates are you going on?

Dating has changed a lot since you've last dated. He'll be expecting to fist you on date 5.

The kind that involves walking hand-in-hand 'til the end, apparently.

In the long run, you might have to. Actually in the long run there might be other things you might have to develop a liking to in order to keep it going.
Seriously though. You're still hesitant with that little bit of affection after 4 dates, that puts the situation in one of two drawers.
    A) You don't feel a thing for the poor lad and are just doing this to get back on your feet or for some other strange reason. Fair enough I suppose.
    B) You like the guy but actually are incredibly awkward. Then try and loosen up but at the same time don't be worried about being awkward. The lad is still interested in dating you after not even getting a quick snog after 4 dates. He obviously likes you a lot and isn't just looking for a one off shag. There's nothing you can really do wrong on a date when you actually like each other, just be yourself (unless you're a b*tch, in which case being yourself doesn't help, but neither does anything else).

Things have been though with work really with some long hours. I was stuck in work the night before two of our dates and turning up slightly drained with a headache. Another date, I was getting ready, the getting ready was a disaster from start to finish and I wanted to tell the world to fcuk right off. Felt ad if everything was against me that day. Nearly had to cancel because of a neighbour dying.

The last meet up was good. I like him and shifted a bit and a little bit more but not saying here.

Lads like it when you get hot and heavy with them and then just before the main event you say you just wanna cuddle.

Oh my god! I don't believe that for one minute. That's an awful thing to do.

You sound like a catch. Just delightful :pac:

Anyways, if you've gotten this far... I don't see what the problem is - it's obviously not that awkward.

Holding hands is ludicrous, it would make me feel like I am 6 again walking around the town holding the mothers hand, especially for a wee man like me and how tall women are with high heels.
