Car insurance jump help

    I'm 50, healthy and driving 37 years, never had penalty points, convictions or anything and only ever one claim in 2009 involving my car getting accidentally damaged when I hit our gate post.

    Policy renewal Dec. 2016 499.00 which was a jump from previous year and as I wasn't using the car I didn't renew and now 3 months later I want to start driving again but got a quote from 123 via RSA of 1255.00 euros.

    Broker tell me policy have gone up 30% but from 499 to 1255 is not 30% more like 130%.

    Could it be the age of my car ? 2006 KIA Sorrento

    Any idea of who can give a competitive quote.
