bought one for the single bed in the box room today as a few people have said now that the mattress on the bed is very firm.

Unrolled it, fitted it to the mattress and remade the bed and left it alone for about an hour to allow the topper to puff up. Had a lay down there a few minutes ago and it was really nice. I'd nearly consider going back and getting a king size one for my own bed.

ts a giant sponge if you put it on a waterproof surface perspiation will condense underneath and the foam will soak it up like a sponge plus its very soft and only 3cm. 7-10cm self inflating mats are a good compromise for camping if you get the wider ones.

I wouldn't use it for camping tbh. It needs to have a mattress underneath it.

Am being a bit of a pedantic Pete here but I think it's only 3cm deep?

Id definitely recommend getting one but go for a thicker one if you can. Like 7cm+. Ive slept on both and the thicker one is massively more comfy. These are always turning up on Groupon (incl branded ones like Slumberdown) and Home store and more do them as a monthly half price offer every now and again. If you google or even search bargain alerts you might see when they last did it - might be due again soon.
Nice of you to get it for the oap in question I'm sure theyll be delighted.

There were posts here over the last few months that tesco had those self inflating mats for €2.50. You might still pick one up somewhere. More suitable for camping, waaay cheaper plus the memory foam toppers are actually pretty heavy for their size

3cm topper is a waste of time.
You will need at least 6cm of memory foam for it to be suitable for the average person. A lot of companies have toppers or thin memory foam layers but they don't last and serve no purpose.

Spend a bit more and get a proper mattress topper or wait and save and replace the mattress

Apparently they can't be used with electric blankets

Does anyone find that memory foam toppers are too warm just like the memory foam mattress are supposed to be for some people.

    OK ta, scrap that

I bought a very similar one for a single bed in Supervalu years ago, and I love it so much I went back and got the double bed one, too.
