Preventing mould on sky light tunnel

There's a tunnel going up to my sky light, recently got it painted, and the mould has returned. I don't open the window as often as I'd like, an on rectifying that with a remote. But that's for later in the year. The mould has to be sorted first. I was looking at the tunnel from the attic and was wondering if I put insulation on it, and held it in with plastic sheeting, would that prevent the mould from coming back?

Insulate the tunnel but don't use plastic sheeting to keep it in place. Use a breathable material or light netting perhaps.
