Growth Strategy - Lessons from the Legal industry

This may be best suited in the business section, however, its particularly lawyers/solicitors and their relationship that I'm interested in.

I don't work in the legal profession, but in a similar industry where referrals are made by one professional to another professional. There are strict rules applied re contact, I imagine similar to the legal profession.

I'm currently working on a growth strategy for the business, and I'm trying to see if we can learn from other similar industries.

How do Barristers increase business and referrals from solicitors. Is it simply word of mouth or are there other (compliant) ways of building relationships.

My current strategy includes differentiation from competitors, such as providing add on services not normally associated with our industry, but I'd like if anyone from the legal (or similar) industry could point out how they grow business.

    Thanks
