Sw claim, need advice

    Hey guys,

Just a quick one. I recently left my own job on my accord. I quit. Personally wasn't easy to do but wasn't going well. The particular job had me stressed out constantly and my well being was out the window. Leaving everyday with headaches and not happy. My personal life was suffering and my mental health was lacking as was the sleep. Anyway, that's my sob story out of the way.

I'm in the middle of claiming SW . when I apply and give the relevant documents p45 and what not. Will they see why I left and penalise me? I've been working consistanly for the past 5 years and I have more work in the pipeline fortunately. So basically will I get the benefit or will they not give it to me.

This has been all very stressful so any bit of advise would be great. I would appreciate it.

Unfortunately if you choose to leave a job you usually have to wait 9 weeks to claim Jobseekers benefit.
Maybe as you were unwell you could ask for this to be waived if you can show evidence of doctors visits etc.

If you can show any evidence that you didn't leave of your own accord then they will reduce the nine week period.

If I just hand in the p45 and everything else will they find out I left myself though?

It asks on the form why your last employment ended. You can explain you resigned for ill health and supply a doctors letter as I suggested.

if you have left your job because you were suffering from stress and were unable to work, and if your Gp agrees that this is the case, then you should be applying for Illness Benefit, not JSB.

She has another job lined up I think so it seems to be this job as opposed to any job.

They will ask why your employment ended and if they're not happy with your answer they'll send a letter to your previous employer.

Personally if I were you I'd claim illness benefit instead, it would be easier.
