Vent car phone holders?

Does anyone here use an air vent mounted car phone holder?
I was looking at some on Amazon and ebay.

The reviews seem pretty good (4 and a half stars) and they`d suit me as I wouldn't be using it all the time, just when I'm using google maps for directions.

My concern is, would they damage the air vent? as this definitely isn't what the air vents are designed for.
Would the magnetism damage the phone?

It works very well and I prefer it over a windscreen mounted phone mount. Just make sure to switch off the vent that you're using so you don't start heating your phone!

It would depend on car. I wouldn't use it on those delicate louvred vents like you used to get in a lot of VW group cars.

I use the Kenu Airframe or the Belkin one.
Just sold the car and the new one has a holder built in, so I'm selling both on adverts.

Never an issue with either.

I have a Spiderpodium one in my car find it very good. Can adjust it how you like so fits any phone.

any car, any device, once you ahve the rough measurements of the phone youll find a holder.
