Aer Lingus Priority Boarding

I'm not a very frequent flyer, but when booking tickets with Aer Lingus, there are options to select various prices with differing levels of benefit and inclusions. One of those is Priority Boarding, but I'm not sure on exactly what it entails.

Barring those with a disability, does it mean you can skip to the top of the boarding queue, despite what seats rows are being called at the gate?

    Thanks for any information. :)

Yes they will call priority boarders first.

It's not worth paying for TBH, it more or less puts you into the same category as people with children or people accompanying elderly or disabled people who need a wheelchair to the plane. If you're at the gate reasonably early, you can easily get to the head of the queue and the priority borders will be just ahead of you.

This is not like the original Ryanair priority boarding which allowed you get on the plane early to get a good seat, on an Aer Lingus flight you will already have your seat allocated so priority boarding really buys you nothing except imaginary superiority over other passengers, all of whom will take off and land at the same time as you.

I purchase priority boarding so that I can get on the plane and get my luggage in the locker over my seat. Nothing worse than seeing the A*holes who store their luggage at the front of the plane but sit at the back of the plane.
