So Ryanair have a find a cheaper car hire and we will give you free car hire promise.

So of course being Ryanair there is a catch.

What you need to do is. Look at the car hire price with Ryanair and at the same time look for cheaper car hire for the same time. ( I did find some but made the mistake of booking it.)

Now book it with ryanair and within 1 hour you have to contact them here

https://car-hire.ryanair.com/en-ie/price-promise

Read rules before booking.

Good luck please let me know if anyone gets free car hire.

:)

I was sure I was on the money there until I spotted that the comparison needs to be on "car hire supplier’s direct website", doyouspain is way cheaper for what I am looking for but doubt you will get it cheaper on a direct website.

I got my hire car last year for free from them. I had to do a bit of chasing but I got it refunded in the end. Just be careful and make sure everything is the same including the type of car because they will try anything not to honour it, as my friend found out .😊

Is this a BA?

Surely the ulcer you'd develop attempting to have 'em honour it would negate the saving.

Spotted this also. I have done a bit of research and think I have found a good case for a free car hire.
Only worry is the T&Cs says it needs to be identical in everything. I will have to make sure it is before I book as I have a much cheaper option that I could take so don't want to be stung for the extra 150 Ryanair price just for the sake of trying to get the free car.
Anybody have experience of what they look at comparing? Does it go all the way to excess cover and fuel type etc?

I was trying to get car hire for free but this was their replay

Thank you for submitting your price promise query.

Please note that in order to qualify for the Price Promise guarantee, the car hire booking must be identical: (ie supplier brand, the supplier payment model, pickup and return details).

having reviewed your booking I can see that the payment model with Topcar is post-paid whereas our payment method is fully pre-paid which means that the payment models are different.

Due to this your claim was rejected and we are unable to look into it further.

Please refer to Price Promise T&Cs which can be found online at https://car-hire.ryanair.com/en-ie/price-promise

Thank you for booking through Ryanair Car Hire and we look forward to assisting you in the future.

Kindest Regards,
Ryanair Car Hire Support Team

Looking at some of the firms they're offering hire from on the dates of my holiday and recalling horror stories read on here and TripAdvisor about GoldCar and Orlando in particular. It's just not worth the perceived savings.

Go with a reputable firm and save yourself the headache and stress.

I got my price promise approved a few months back but in the end I cancelled the booking as I didn't trust the car hire company after reading tons of reviews about them. Cartrawler did try to confuse me by rejecting it saying fuel policies were different where as they were clearly identical.

Get your excess covered before you travel. hire companies charge euro 10 or more a day for this extra insurance and you pay around 50 for annual excess insurance so it pays for itself quickly. Just remember to keep all you documentation and photos of the damage for the claim

Only issue I've found with this is that some car hire crowds will put a hold on ur cc if you don't use their excess. Regardless of whether you have ur own.. and the hold can be well over €1k in some cases... last thing u need when going on holidays

In which case, either apply to have your credit limit raised pre-trip or fork out for the prohibitively expensive options available from the rental providers to reduce CDW excess to zero. Doing so will essentially double the cost of your car hire in my experience.

I've a yearly policy from the crowd above, as I rent in Europe & the US about 12-15 times a year. Never had to claim for anything, but the peace of mind is there that I'll be reimbursed if the need arises.

You could always just use websites to search for multiple results and book it with zero excess or similar. It's avoids having to pay big when you get there or use excess companies.

I've hired 5 cars in the past 12 months and have one upcoming. All hired with zero excess through price comparisons, or Avis direct for less than booking direct, except Avis, and none with crappy companies like record, goldcar or others.

I like using

AutoEurope
Cahire3000
Skyscanner.net

Yep I got 360 back from them recently, took a while as i hadn't the original rental contract , but Hertz eventually got me a copy.

Most places will require a deposit , but I find Hertz never seem to look for too much, in Barcelona they needed 200 and Sicily they took 220.

Just week ago i got refund, found with centaurus cheaper, in Spain, first they said that ryanairs incurance is different , but contacted Centaurus, incurance was the same, so sent back to ryanair, and they agreed to pay back 145 :) was nice surprise . But be sure that all conditions are the same, in my case car was the same, focus. But not sure is that offer still there .

Is it a car hire agregator? If so it's excluded via Thier t&c's of the offer, at least it was last time I looked.

+1 for AutoEurope - I've been using them for years and never had a problem.

Anyone manage to get a free car with them since?

I've got a quote cheaper than theirs so tempted to try them out and take them up on their offer but not if they're gonna drag their heels and if it's gonna take weeks and endless phone calls and emails to sort out.

Anyone have any experience of claiming off them and how did you find it?

How long did it take you guys before hearing back from Ryanair regarding the free car hire claim?

This  is an absolute scam. So convinced that everything was in line for a free car hire I was informed this:
"Having reviewed your claim, we noticed that the payment model with CarHire  is part paid, where as your booking through ourselves is fully prepaid. Please note that the payment methods need to be the same to apply to this offer.
Due to this your claim was rejected and we are unable to look into it further."
Seriously? Such a blatant scam. Considering to be eligible for a free rental you have to pay in full on the RyanAir site and not select a part payment (20 deposit). And besides what the **** has part or full payment even got to do with finding a cheaper quote elsewhere.

Was it in Ryanair's terms and conditions?

Ryanair have built up such a bad reputation that I'd be extremely wary of any additional services they offer like hotels etc.

Don't know about that. I had booked a citroen c4 for 2 weeks in france for €480. 3 weeks before I headed off I got an offer from Ryanair for a 7 seater guaranteed 2018 model for €420!! It's a Renault Scenic and it's parked outside now!!

To be fair to them, they honored my free car hire requests twice.
