Laguna won't unlock driver's door from outside

Strange one this. I've a Laguna III which needed a new door latch as it wouldn't close (not a fun experience). Since then the driver's door won't unlock from the outside, but will unlock fine from the inside. The latch and lock is all one unit, and my mechanic tried two different latches with the same issue.
