    Hi

I recently completed the online assessment tests and have been invited to go to one of the assessment centres. Its due to take about 3.5 hours. Anyone been to this before have any info as to what to expect? Is it a group interview type thing or what?

Also if any is working there whats it like? Have heard a few horror stories but then lots of positive stuff too.

ivefounddog - I am not sure about the group interview, I have heard that you need to show that you are a team player, try to get all people involved in tasks, come across as energetic and confident, but with a can do attitiude and good timing skills (if you get 10 mins to do something, do it in no more then 10 mins).
The work itself is tough. You will have a comprehensive taiming, from working in store, to shadowing another som (area managers are called sales operation managers), doing a store lead after few months, etc.
You might be lucky and get to work in a shop and district near you. You might be unlucky and get a tough mentor and a district over an hour away. We are generally talking long hours (you will be rostered for around 48h +commuting+meetings, staying on, etc.).
It is a tough job. Well paid, but tough.

Hi Gizmo sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I got notified about a week or so after doing the online tests if I remember right. After that I was invited to an assessment up in Mullingar in a hotel. This consisted of a group based work where we were given a case study and a set of questions we had to answer as a team. Following that there was an individual written assessment and then an interview. I got through this and then was invited to another interview in the LIDL distribution centre in Mullingar. This was a much more intense interview and they didn't pull any punches in terms of questions, I knew I didn't do great in it to be honest as I wasn't prepared for some of the questions in it and thats as far as I got. As far as I know that is the last step before job offer.

Few things that annoyed me about the whole process was I had applied for the Kildare distribution centre as my base yet when I got to the assessment in Mullingar they made it clear I could be based anywhere more or less, even as far as Galway or Mayo which I obviously wouldn't have accepted. They are also not even remotely accommodating in that they'll email you with about 3 days notice max to let you know you have to attend an interview or whatever. I asked to rearrange my second interview but was more or less told tough luck, it meant I had to leave work for a half day and rush up to Mullingar and I think it affected my performance in the interview as I just wasn't in the right mindset for an interview and knew the rest of my week would be a nightmare because of it.

Wasn't overly upset I missed out on it to be honest and it was a good experience, its the kind of job I think i'd only do for a year. As travinci said its long hours, long work week.

Thanks a million great insight. Did my online aptitude on the 8th 2 weeks ago still no word back. Hopefully I'll hear something soon for better or worse
