Court for no insurance the day I bought the car

Hello, I hope I can find answers for the problem

First I do have full coverage insurance and also I can drive another car with my insurance policy. 

But my problem is I bought a car in 15th of July last year and I do have insurance that time for my old car, they day I bought a car I made an online request to change my policy to the new car, not by the phone so the day after I request which 16th of July I had an accident with bicycle guy he hit my car from driver side while I got the green light at the traffic light and he must stopped at the pedestrian crossing point because it's red thought he can make it, he just ride faster and hit my car, 
I stopped and I have witnessed that I asked everything for the guy if he needs to go the hospital or he wants me to call the Garda and I give all my info to him as well, he said he just wants to be paid for fixing his bike only, I didn't pay him and asked him no problem send me the invoice and I can pay you later, he never contacted me at all also I didn't let my insurance company know about this.

So after a one week the Garda came to my home around 11:30 PM and asking me there's claim against me from that guy because he is injured, so the Garda asked me for the insurance certificate and I show them my insurance certificate, but the problem is when my company sent my new insurance certificate, they didn't put it from the day I request they put the date after 4 days of my request which 19th of July, so the Garda now sent me to Court because they say that I didn't prove that I had insurance that day and I was driving without insurance.

I called my insurance company to give me proof of the request I sent online they said they cannot, so I can only proof that I requested my insurance company from my online account.

Any advice for this case please and should I just go and talk to the Garda who sent me court and show him my documents again? ( I know the Garda here will not change anything at all even if I can say that I'm allowed to drive another car) or I just have to go and find lawyer?

Also I find out that my insurance company after I renew same policy same things from last year they remove me from driving another with my new policy and they didn't even let me know.
