This issue was raised in the Dail yesterday

    https://www.kildarestreet.com/debates/?id=2017-03-08a.450

Among the solutions for the N4 and N7 congestion suggested by Shane Ross are 10 minute DARTs and Luas BXD......

I did not think the Dart went alongside the M50, N7, or the N4, neither does the BXD line. What was he talking about?

A new liffey crossing between the M50 and lucan is badly needed. However this would become a toll dodging route.
Would a public transport only bridge here with frequent buses and the provision for (as in include the tracks while its being built rather than retrofitting) Metro West eventually do much to ease the problem?

I regularly post here about how bad Ross's knowledge of transport and the issues around the city and country are scandalously bad. This post further backs it up.

Thoughts on how it can be improved?
Step 1 Wait for the city to grind to a halt
Step 2 Act like this came totally out of the blue
Step 3 Half arse some infrastructure project
Step 4 Take credit for the project
Step 5 Wait for the city to grind to a halt again
Step 6 Fix infrastructure project in some half arsed way
    Step 7 Take credit again
Step 8 return to step 1

Well, so long as New Ross is bypassed. That's the main thing.

Step 1 - Let me run this country!

A national spatial strategy with properly planned regional development would help alleviate the unbalanced development of the country and alleviate Dublin's impending gridlock. Hmmm....... where have I heard that before?

Step 2 Act like this came totally out of the blue
Step 3 Half arse some infrastructure project
Step 4 Take credit for the project
Step 5 Get reelected on foot of these new infrastructure changes
Step 6 Plan for infrastructure changes to be completed just after the next election(If it fixes things and you are in power, take credit, if it doesnt fix things and you arent in power, criticise from the opposition the sitting government over the plans you made yourself,
Step 7 Wait for the city to grind to a halt again
Step 8 Criticise from the opposition the sitting government
Step 9 Sitting government fix infrastructure project in some half arsed way
Step 10 Criticise from the opposition the sitting governments attempt to take credit again
Step 11 Electorate grows tired of the sitting governments inability to fix the problem. General election is called and our friend is voted back in to power

The solution to too many cars is never more cars.

Yet the planners seems hell bent on bringing as much traffic as they can through DW.
