I buy Balcas stakes, 5ft 6, paid about 3.70 each for 120 lately, I've some of them up 20 years

Pdm are creosoted, or at least a healthier watered down creosote. Not that happy with the last batch I got. In the summer they dried out and split, and you could see untreated wood in the middle.
Last posts I went for were those Octagonal creosoted ones, supposed to be Nordic timber. No dearer than pdm either.

The larch you get now is useless.

I'd second that. They are near Mallow somewhere now I think. They did all the fencing for us 15 years ago and it's all still perfect. I think you are wasting your time with non creosote at this stage. Tanalised ones are complete rubbish nowadays.
