    1) I’ve paid my Irish Water bills but have received an email, with a bill attached, from noreply4@irishwater.ie. Is this from you?

    We have been made aware of emails being sent asking people to 'download a bill'. These emails are not from Irish Water and we recommend that you delete it immediately and to not click on the attachment or provide any financial information.

    We have also posted information about this on our website.

    2) I have seen numerous figures as to the average water usage per household, can you confirm where I can find the correct information?

    Consumption averages differ depending on what purpose they are being used for and on what is included in the figures is solely occupied homes; a mix of occupied and non-occupied homes; those homes with leaks; homes without leaks; all metered homes; a mix of metered and non-metered homes; homes with multiple of single occupancy etc.

    The Consumption Reports provided to the Comission for Energy Regulation, and which are available on the Irish Water website, provide the most up-to-date and accurate breakdown of water usage. Please click here for more.

    3) I have paid all my Irish Water bills before the Billing suspension and have since moved home. If refunds are introduced, could I avail of a refund at my new property?

    The decision regarding the refund of water charges is currently being reviewed by the Government.

    4) Is there a maximum upper limit or threshold for Kerosene in water supply?

    There is no limit for Kerosene in water supply. However, the below parameters would be frequently tested in regulatory drinking water audit samples on public supplies. These parameters as specified in the regulations are used as the main indicators of any hydrocarbon based fuel contamination.

    Benzene: 1.0 ug/l
    Benzo(a)pyrene: 0.010 ug/l
    PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) Total: 0.10 ug/l

    5) I am leaving the country and would like to close my Irish Water account.

    If you would like to send your query by PM, with the following details, we will be more than happy to help you:

    - Name;
    - Address;
    - Contact Number; and
    - Confirmation that you are the account holder.

    As soon as we receive these details, we will look into your query straight away.
