    Hi there,

I'm currently doing my pre registration training in the UK.

Once qualified in a few months I'm planning to move back home to Dublin and start my career.

Can anyone give me any general tips how to prepare myself so My transition is smooth from the uk system to the Irish system. I have about 4months experience in an Irish pharmacy which was years ago so I'm not to knowledgeable on the schemes or legislation. But I obviously want to know as much as I can so I do not practice unlawfully etc.

    Thanks

There's alot of legislation to cover, though i'm sure there's some overlap with the UK system. I was provided with a pharmacist training manual when i joined clarity locums so that could be an option for you. It contains much of the info you would need to cover.

I moved from uk to Ireland 10 years ago. When I registered with the PSI I had to attend a training morning at their head office with a group of other EU registered pharmacists which covered some of the rules and regs. Not sure if the PSI still do this for pharmacists new to Ireland. I then worked in large pharmacies for a few months to allow me to work alongside Irish pharmacists and learn the Irish rules.
I'd recommend working alongside another pharmacist when you move back to Ireland (even if it's unpaid). Most of the legal stuff is the same but the rules for gms, Dps claims etc are very different to uk. Good luck.
