Vrt difference

Motorcheck isn't the official VRT caluculator so I wouldn't pay much heed to it, although in this case it was nearer the figure than you were :)

Make sure you are entering the correct version of the car on the VRT calculator, there may be different versions with different emissions figures, which will affect the figure.
€4K VRT is for an older model with much higher Co2

The 129g co2 figure quoted on the ad is correct for the car.

I would reckon the correct version of your car is ZETEC 138HP 6 SPEED 5DR

    140PS = 138HP

I'm getting €2528 for that, but don't know the original reg month which could affect it slightly.

According to the MOT history checker it was registered on 28th March 2013.

Be aware, even the official VRT site only gives an estimate.

I brought in a Titanium X mondeo and quote difference was 2000 euro from actual VRT. I had to appeal it and requested they meet me half way. They did and got a cheque back for 1000 euro.

Thanks for replies, that's what I find a bit awkward about the calculator, you are going by what's in the ad, wouldn't motorcheck be reliable enough seeing as they have all the info on the car when you enter the reg?

They are only getting that info from somewhere else.

If you read the pic quote carefully that someone has posted. In RED lettering, it talks about wrong info can cause an inaccurate ESTIMATE.

Any quote you get may not be accurate.

On another note, my mother in law bought a UK reg suzuki Alto, a little granny car. The estimate was 1400 euro and I had her coached to keep her trap shut if it came in less.

We are charged 900 euro ! Happy fecking days.

That's specifically to do with the Co2 figure. If you picked a model where the Co2 was wrong, then it's most likely the wrong version. For example, you could pick an 00-07 spec Mondeo Zetec, which would not have the same stat code as the newer model, and would have different OMSP when new and different depreciation arithmetic applied.

Sorry, just looking at the result you got, how do you know that it's 138 HP when it states 140 on the ad? I don't doubt you, Im just wondering how you work out that's what it is?

Because that's the engine they used from 10/10 to 04/13

They use the German PS measurement for horsepower which is a slightly higher figure than BHP

It would have been sold as a Zetec 140

The pre 10/10 version from 2007 has emissions of 139 where the newer ones are 129

Bizzarely, changing from July to March 2013 makes the VRT higher. Another lovely anomaly of the calculator.
This is because the mileage per year figure is marginally lower if it's March and they don't depreciate it as much.
    Comes in at €2576

Driving it back from the U.K. and around here for a few weeks will bring that figure down though.

In the OPs case though the VRT is higher if it was a few months older.

Hybrids are a bargain vrt wise anyway! Glad to see you finally took the plunge :)
