Much better car than what you have. The newer Megane is a very good car too.

Fluence is basically a Megane III with a boot. The Fluence is a good reliable car, night v day compared to the older Megane you currently have.

Renault are one of those companies that had a terrible reputation at one time. My sister had a couple of Clio's and they cost her a small fortune too.

Whilst car hunting a few years back I basically said this to a Renault salesman and he said that since around 2008, Renault caught on to the fact that they were rubbish and set about fixing it. And having spoken to many people since, I hear they have done a good job of it. Problem is, sh1t sticks. Same for Alfa.

I think your 04 car comes from their 'bad period'!

It was 27th March 2005 that Renault stopped being crap.

Why did you pick that as the date they stopped being crap Colm? Is that the date that they joined up with Nissan. I love Renault cars but I also know some people who had some after that time that gave problems nothing major but still annoying like window switch's going. I agree that the new cars are far superior now do.
I think every Renault since the MKiii Laguna on has been much much better built and far more reliable. From then on Renault started to up there game.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

They joined up with nissan in 1999 although it was more that they bought nissan afaik and most of the cars shared more renault parts than nissan parts.

I agree that the mk3 laguna was the turning point and so was the fluence mk3 megane. The models previous to these were poor.
