    Counter to the other thread.
I love and miss the cash back feature, unreal handy and I suppose apart from the UK I've never seen it anywhere else.
The ability to pay bills over the phone.
The ability to renew your passport online.
    Any other ones?

    Rude store staff.
    Rarely get them anywhere else.
    Always know you're home...

I wouldn't agree with that, always found them very helpful.

Gala and Costcutter stores - I'm sure they're uniquely Irish but are they?

Most services in Ireland you can get elsewhere in the world i'd go with the traditional Irish pub which is quintessentially part of the romantic idyllic image of Ireland. Don't get that in other parts of the world. When we imagine the Arab world a picture of constant war comes to mind. Africa it is of the children in need of food and places like India, China or Iran it is cramped living conditions. Aside from that much of the world have business stores and online banking that connects us although not much to distinguish us from each other. We use the same technology and consume similar products.

That the postman doesn't need a full address, let alone a postcode. They'll work it out from the vaguest of addresses.

And if you're not there to take a parcel, they'll probably know where your sister/boyfriend/neighbour/cousin works and leave it with them for you.

Also, the second miracle of Knock, the Knock Marriage Introduction Agency.

Was going to say what my wife calls huckster shops but they seem to be rapidly dying a death even in small rural towns. Those mad hybrid shops that you even got in parts of Dublin until recent times.

    Beer deliveries.

I know a lot people who are amazed at that.

You get that in every country. Irish staff are generally much friendlier than most.

Germany, most particularly Bavaria, is at least as bad as Ireland for tying up identity, history and culture with alcohol.

    Irish Barmen.

In my experience the only ones in the world who can handle multiple orders simultaneously.

Worked in a bar in Australia and Aussies were amazed that I could serve one order whilst taking another order at the same time.

Banks: Being able to pick your own pin. Couldn't do that abroad.

Two Fosters, a pint of Smithwicks, vodka and soda and a coke please.

... three minutes, one pint of Fosters later... "What was it again?"

Did I ****ing stutter, you useless pile of ****e?

Those UK barmen are totally ****ing useless, and there's three of them for one of the same here.

Being able to bet on the gee gees while having a pint in the pub.
I know there's online betting available but I still prefer to get a bet on using some magic process between the barman and the bookie without any money changing hands until later.

Honestly a good deli (chicken fillet rolls etc) for freshly made lunches.

Respect. I went behind the counter at a relatives pub to hand out free drink to relatives after a funeral. After a few minutes of failure I was stood down permanently.
