Android Storage

I just have a quick query about the storage on android phones. It says my phones internal storage is near full (it's 32gb internal storage) and that "Images" account for 10.35gb of this. I moved all my photos to Google drive and deleted them off my phone but it still reads 10.35gb (the photo's only took up 1gb approx anyway). Is this standard on all Android phones or is my phone just reading things wrong? Just a bit annoying as I'm trying to make room in my phone for music etc

As far as I know Google Drive will still keep a 'local' store of the data if you have the app.

Google Photos is good to back up these (offer unlimited storage if you store the photos as a lower resolution).

This link might help narrow it down : https://www.howtogeek.com/206591/how-to-see-whats-taking-up-space-on-your-android-device/

But it is reading 10.35gb when the photos only took up 1 gb anyway. Here:

Very odd. Can you run a disk analyser app and / or find duplicates? I'm thinking that there was a copy (or even a copy of a copy) made somehow!

Well my other half sends me photos through whats app every day when Im in work of my baby daughter, which automatically saves to my phone. So that's two copies of every photo being saved I guess. But Ive gone through and deleted everything I can find yet it still says 10.35gb, which has gone up to 10.36gb in the last few minutes. Even multiplate duplicates should only amount to 5-6 gbs at most though

Could it be cached images or thumbnails of them. I had 2gb of the latter on my phone after deleting loads.

Have you rebooted the phone? The total may not have refreshed yet.
