Ford Focus radio/sound options

    Gents,

Is it worth changing out the standard factory radio in my 2008 Ford Focus tdci?

I recently purchased this for long journeys.

The reason I ask is that I had a 1998 Honda Civic 1.6 Vtec in the past and I changed the radio because I was told the output of the original radio was too low and I was not availing of the full power of the speakers. Made a massive difference to the sound.

I dont really care for car mods but I think everybody wants a good sound. Any ideas or options for me to improve sound quality would really be appreciated.

No changing the headunit won't make much if any difference to sound quality on your focus, well not a massive difference to make it worth it anyway.

You would need to spend a bit of money to get a decent setup, amp, speakers, head unit etc. If it was me id leave it tbh because the sound system in those fords is ok as far as a factory setup is concerned and by changing the head unit you will be taking away from the aesthetics of the dash(if that bothers you)

Those pre facelift civics usually came with either honda branded head units or Panasonic head units, neither had great sound quality and changing the head unit was more straightforward and more of an upgrade than it is on the focus.

Thanks for reply JohnBoy. Saved me money and bother.

For an improvement in the overall sound quality of the audio I would start by upgrading the front speakers before changing the radio.

A 2008 Ford Focus would have a CD600 radio in it, pumping out a whooping 4x 15watt or something very low, the sound would be greatly improved by a new stereo, Pioneer and Alpine have a great clarity and Kenwood offer a nice bassy approach.

The cheapest improvement would be a nice set of 6" speakers, just to be aware it will require speaker adaptors, but yes this will give it improvement. For all around, change the lot.

    Fords use a 5x7" speaker.
