Good buzz about this show - the first episode (out of 3) was on earlier tonight.

From Digital Spy: In a twist on Single White Female for the social media generation, new mum Ellen (Lost in Austen's Morven Christie) slowly starts to fear that her maternity cover Paula (Broadchurch's Vicky McClure) has sinister plans to take over her life.

    Must check it out tomorrow.

Really enjoyed it, nice for a mid-week drama. Acting was strong. All about the little things you know are happening but make you seem paranoid if you say them to others.Looking forward to next week.

The way this show was edited really annoyed me, it just seemed totally out of time, like it was jumping to a new shot a second or two earlier than it should have, it'll be interesting to see where the show is headed as the premise is pretty interesting

The plot seemed remarkably similar to that of a 2006 ITV Miniseries I remember watching on ITV3 a while back [The Kindness of Strangers, starring Julie Graham, Hermione Norris and Neil Pearson]
Ellie and Joe Farrelly are a busy couple bringing up a teenage son while running a large building company. When they suddenly have twins, a stranger comes into their life at just the time when they need help the most ...

After her 40th birthday party, Ellie and Joe celebrate on the kitchen table. Nine months later, they're the parents of twins. Ellie struggles to cope at home and Joe misses her presence in the office of the family construction firm. A chance encounter with a sympathetic stranger in the supermarket leads to a chilling and disturbing tale of manipulation and psychosis.

Enjoying this.. though I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to like Morven Christie's character...

Still, herself and McClure can do love an intimidating stare competition!

I have missed The Replacement. Does anyone know of a free link to watch on? We cannot access BBCiplayer outside UK.

Only watched episode one so far and I've found it pretty mediocre. I think could have done without the dramatic "skylight incident" at the end of the episode. It'd be more interesting to be kept guessing a bit longer as to whether Ellen has skipped a loop mentally or if Paula is a "bad'un" rather than leaving sign posts around too early.

    Enjoyable fare
The last 20 minutes of that were embarrassing.... I honestly don't know where to start! Such a disappointment after the first two episodes

Ridiculous ending! Spoiled the whole series.

They explained nothing and then it just all wrapped!!!

Yeah, truly bizarre last half hour!

    Disappointing!

Really enjoyed the first two and a half episodes. Then it just turned really disappointing. Totally stupid ending. So many questions unanswered.

Why/How come Paula was arrested in the end? It's like there were different writers for the last half hour.

Yes, very odd change of pace and tone toward the end. Shame.

For what it's worth, the writer made some comments here about the conclusion

Really disappointed with the ending last night. Was very rushed and a lot of unanswered q's and loose ends. Why the visit of Ellen to Ian's mother? Scene in the garage with the car was a bit much. I was wondering also would Ellen not have discovered Paula'a daughter was killed in the accident before this - surely with her being so paranoid about Paula she would have googled her before and the story of the accident would have come up somewhere?! Seems implausible it would be such a secret. Maybe I'm overthinking but just thought there were a lot of holes in the story!!
